Frequently Asked Questions

Do you have listings online? Can I get them over the phone or email?

We don’t, and here’s why: Because our services are customized to each individual client, we must meet with you in person to review your financial requirements with you and discuss your space and location needs and any other preferences you might have. Also, we have new listings coming in every day, so by coming to our offices, you ensure that the listings you get are the most up-to-date.

What types of apartments do you have? Where are your buildings?

We don’t own or manage apartment buildings—we get listings from building owners all over Oak Park and sort them based on our clients’ needs. We have listings for apartments of all sizes, styles, rents, and building types—all from a variety of owners and management companies. We try to help everyone the best we can but the Housing Center is not an affordable housing provider. We provide listings that are at typical market rents for Oak Park.

How much does it cost to use your service?

Our services are FREE! The Housing Center provides personalized apartment searches at no cost to our clients.

Can I see the apartment today?

After you fill out a registration form, you will meet with a rental housing advisor who will match you with the listings that fit your preferences. You can then start calling to make appointments to see the apartments immediately after that. Depending on everyone’s schedules, you may be able to see an apartment the same day.

Do I need an appointment?

We are a walk-in service—you do not need an appointment. However, please be here at least 45-60 minutes before we close so you have time to fill out a registration card, meet with a rental advisor, and receive listings.
